Description

NGC2685 (a.k.a Arp 336 or the Helix Galaxy) in the constellation Ursa Major is a more unusual galaxy. Formally, NGC2865 is classified as a polar ring galaxy of type SB0 with some nuclear activity (Seyfert 2). NGC2685 show a lot of peculiarities, indicating interactions with its environment. Labels one finds in the literature are "bizarre" or "perhaps the most peculiar galaxies". Chip Arp put NGC2685 in the "misc" bin. Certainly NGC2685 is one of its kind.

Data were taken on Feb 14 and Feb 15.
